THE VIEW FROM THE TOP
A magnificent cliff serves as the dramatically positioned site of Arcos de la Frontera, a charming village full of hints of its Arab heritage. Rich in Moorish architecture, the city also houses the Gothic churches of Santa María de la Asunción and San Pedro.
In Medieval times it served as the border (“Frontera” in Spanish) between Christian and Muslim Spain during the 13th century battle with the Moors.
Declared a national historic-artistic monument in 1962, in this dream White Town tradition is faithfully preserved, as you can see in its historical towers, churches, and splendid viewpoints with sights of the Guadalete River, as well as in its festivals and fairs, or its cuisine, where the Iberian pig and locally grown horticultural products have a leading role.
